Senior Design Associate

Job Description

These are made generally available to the VBC | Studio organization as a whole in order to clearly delineate areas of growth or improvement for those aiming to gain additional experience and increased responsibility.

• Design and manage design direction for drawings and sketches as assigned senior project lead
• Manage Revit project documentation and generation as assigned senior project lead
• Review Revit and BIM360 file management to confirm conformity with office standards
• Develop and maintain project data and make reports to management and the design team to inform future projects
• Manage 2-3 projects concurrently by delegating drafting, production, and visualization generation to assigned team members
• Manage, coordinate, and review design deliverables generated by project members from the design, production, and rendering teams to confirm conformity with office standards
• Manage document dissemination, generation, and schedule maintenance for sub-consultants to ensure timely deliverable submission to internal and external Customers and permitting entities
• Manage, coordinate, and record responses to internal and external Customer comments and requests in a professional, timely, and courteous manner
• Manage dissemination and review team meeting agendas and meeting minutes prior to submission to internal and external Customers
• Propose revisions and improvements to BIM manuals, procedures, and Revit template updates if required to Design Technology Manager for incorporation into office and documentation standards
• Interface with construction and manufacturing teams to ensure faithful and profitable execution of VBC projects
• Propose revisions and improvements to architectural standard details to Director of Design Operations and VP of Design where needed
• Conduct periodic project site and | or factory visits and document construction and | or manufacturing progress to ensure compliance with project documentation
• Support and enforce strategies that will help meet the needs of and improve the level of service to internal and external Customers
• Support and assist Director of Design Operations in management of internal and external Customer relationships
• Motivate, lead, and mentor direct reporting members of design and architectural team and assist Director of Design Operations with tracking and assessing performance

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Design, Construction, or professional degree in Architecture required; Master’s degree preferred
• Engineering, Architecture, Interior Architecture, Construction experience required
• 6-10 Years of experience required
• DfMA familiarity preferred
• AutoCAD, Revit proficiency required
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required
• Bluebeam Revu proficiency preferred
• Must have a positive attitude and be able to lead a team
• Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills
• Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
• Must have the ability to manage and communicate with remote teams
• Must have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Must be an independent problem-solver and appreciate and thrive in a fast-paced work environment

• Works closely with VBC | Studio Team Members, Project Architects, and Lead Drafters
• Works closely with VBC | Construction Senior Team Members and Project Managers
• Works closely with VBC | Manufacturing Senior Team Members and Project Managers
• Works closely with Design Technology Manager to ensure documentation compliance with office standards
• Position located at VBC | Studio Main Office
• Travel expected 6-10 times a year
