SENIOR ARCHITECT
The Role
We're looking for a licensed architect with proven leadership on luxury projects to lead design and execution of our most sophisticated residential and hospitality work. You'll own projects end-to-end—from early concepts with clients through construction administration. You'll set architectural direction, coordinate consultants, navigate permitting challenges, and ensure every detail is technically sound and deliberately designed.
You'll work embedded in our internal team of engineers, visualization specialists, and project coordinators. You'll lead client meetings as the architectural voice. You'll mentor junior staff. And you'll have the autonomy to make design calls that stick.
What You'll Do
- Lead architectural design from concept through permitting and construction documentation
- Develop floor plans, massing, and architectural systems aligned with client intent and site constraints
- Navigate zoning, building codes, and permitting requirements—both the technical and political sides
- Coordinate structural, MEP, and civil consultants; resolve conflicts; own the integrated design
- Lead client meetings with confidence; communicate complex design decisions clearly
- Guide and review design work from our internal team; maintain quality and consistency
- Solve real-world problems—constructability, budget, scheduling—without compromising design
- Support construction phase coordination and respond to RFIs and field conditions
Who You Are
- Licensed and registered architect in good standing. Ontario license is preferred; we work across Canada, the US, and the Caribbean—licensure in multiple jurisdictions is a plus.
- Minimum 6–8 years of professional architectural experience, with at least 3 leading luxury residential or high-end hospitality projects start-to-finish.
- Proven track record taking projects through permitting and construction documents without handing off at schematic design.
- Deep understanding of building systems, materials, construction methods, and real-world constraints.
- Comfortable coordinating multi-disciplinary consultant teams—structural, MEP, civil, landscape.
- Expert in Revit (or equivalent BIM workflow); strong with AutoCAD, SketchUp, and visualization tools.
- Communicator who can translate design vision to clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Solutions-driven. You balance design intent with execution reality. You solve problems rather than escalate them.
- Collaborative, detail-oriented, and accountable. You take ownership of outcomes, not just tasks.
Why Join Hedgeford & Berkley

- You won't be commoditized. You'll have autonomy in design direction and project strategy.
- You'll work on a fully remote basis with a tight, experienced team—no office politics, no unnecessary meetings.
- You'll mentor junior architects and designers, grow the firm's capabilities, and shape culture.
- Competitive salary: $120,000 CAD base + project-based bonuses tied to delivery and client satisfaction.
- Flexible work environment. Professional development support. Health and wellness benefits.
