Senior Designer
Mallol is seeking a Senior Designer to join its team in Panama.
At Mallol as a Senior Designer, you don't execute a concept someone else has defined — you define it, protect it, and carry it through intact, from the very first conceptual line to the last detail built on site. You hold real autonomy over creative, technical and material decisions, and your judgement determines whether a project strengthens or dilutes the firm's identity.
The Senior Designer holds full technical and aesthetic responsibility for their assigned projects, with the autonomy to decide on concept, materiality and technical coordination.
Key responsibilities:
- Define and lead the project's overall concept, ensuring the creative vision isn't diluted during development and documentation
- Translate the BOD and client requirements into a design proposal that is coherent, feasible and aligned with the project's objectives
- Advise the client on the financial implications of their aesthetic decisions, protecting the design intent within the programme budget
- Lead the strategic volumetric and compositional decisions the team will develop through the SD and DD phases
- Define the project's detailing and visual representation standard, checking compliance on every deliverable
- Audit critical points in the Revit model, ensuring BIM production respects the design intent and the agreed LOD
- Actively influence the client, leading the project's strategic narrative in key presentations and negotiations
What we're looking for:
- Degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture (qualified)
- 8–12+ years leading the design of complex architecture and interiors projects, with design team management experience
- Advanced training or specialisation in design, architectural theory or creative management; a postgraduate qualification in project management highly desirable
- Advanced command of Rhinoceros, SketchUp, Grasshopper and AutoCAD; intermediate Revit skills and familiarity with AI-powered design tools
- Mature, differentiated creative vision, with strategic autonomy in high-impact decisions
- Strategic, persuasive client narrative — able to convince and steer the project's vision, even under pressure
- Creative leadership as the team's technical reference and formal mentor to less experienced designers
- Spanish mandatory & Intermediate English (business or technical), desirable
