Entry to Mid-level Architect for Contemporary Residential Design Practice

Company and Position Overview: West Architecture Studio is a small, award-winning, very design-focused, residential practice based in Atlanta, GA with some occasional national and international projects. I am currently a one-person operation so the ideal candidate will possess and be responsible for a range of supporting skills. Being a very small, residential practice, I can't promise a large salary starting out but, the position being basically my right-hand person, I can promise you will learn a lot in a short period of time and get an exciting range of responsibilities and opportunities that you won't typically get at a larger firm and the work is never boring. And once you've proven yourself as a valuable asset to the firm, commensurate salary increases will likely come more quickly than at a larger firm. You will also likely get experience, not just in architecture, but also in real estate as I have a sister company, Lucid, that develops and sells contemporary speculative homes in conjunction with investor partners. Our office is located in a very vibrant part of Atlanta in the best walking neighborhood in the city - less than 100 yards from the Beltline and close proximity to many bars and restaurants as well as public transportation. 

Position Details:  I am seeking a mid-level Designer/Architect with 2-8 years of experience for a full-time position but may consider those seeking part-time or contract work or those seeking to transition from part-time or contract work to a full-time position in the future (min. 20 hours per week) if the fit is right.

Requested Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture is highly preferred. Those without an architecture degree would need to possess exceptional skills and experience specific to high-end residential design to be considered. 
• Min. 2 years of experience in contemporary residential design or at least high-end single-family residential projects preferred. Those lacking in residential-specific experience will need to convince me of their ability to adapt and shine in other ways.
• Experience with townhomes, boutique multi-family, or small-scale commercial projects wouldn't hurt. 
• At least some experience with putting together construction documents is required
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Photoshop, Sketchup, and Microsoft Office apps is absolutely required.
• Those with proficient 3D modeling and rendering abilities - moving projects from Sketchup to higher-level 3D modelling/rendering platforms will be weighted more heavily in consideration.
• The ideal candidate will have very strong graphics skills and comfortable with both 2D and 3D presentation graphics and experience across multiple graphics softwares.
• This position will require you to help manage our social media efforts so desire to be engaged, marketing flair, and experience with that kind of thing will be appreciated.
